I thought I should post something about the area I'm living in, now that I'm as settled here as I'll ever be.
The house I'm in is a reasonable size by the standards of some places, like the older suburbs of Sydney, but for Canberra it's pretty typical of the large-ish houses built on large-ish blocks. I couldn't tell you the age of the place; just that it's brick and four bedrooms and dark in places, but that's okay for me. Everyone here is reasonably relaxed about housework and food-sharing; it's okay to borrow stuff off other people, and there isn't a roster or 'standard' of cleaning that needs to be adhered to. I'm living with three other humans - a teenager doing her HSC ('The Kid'), a guy who's about to leave in the next month or so ('Boy Wonder') and a woman who's a couple of years older than me and currently looking to buy her own place and drop this lease when she does ('Girly Housemate').
